DIGITAL MARKETING: a definition
Digital [adverb] Marketing [verb]
Verb: a word used to describe an action, state, or occurrence, and forming the main part of the predicate of a sentence.
Adverb: a word or phrase that modifies the meaning of a verb.
Therefore, in the term digital marketing the key word, the most important word - the word that the term is really about is ... marketing.
Digital - the modifier - identifies a type or aspect of marketing.
Digital Marketing is, therefore, Marketing.
As my students might say: 'end of'.
An addendum to this relates to my rants about non-marketers in digital marketing. Digital marketing is marketing. Therefore to be effective working in, or teaching, digital marketing the worker or teacher must have at least one recognised marketing qualification. End of. :-)
